BULGARIA. Second Empire. Ivan Asen II, 1218–1241. Trachy (Bronze, 29 mm, 2.91 g, 6 h). Nimbate bust of Christ facing, raising his right hand in benediction and holding scroll in his left; in fields, IC - XC. Rev. Ivan Asen II, on the left, standing facing, wearing loros and crown with pendilia, holding labarum in his right hand and St. Dimitrii, on the right, standing facing, holding sword in his left hand; both holding star-tipped staff between them. Raduchev/Zhekov 1.2.2. Youroukova/Penchev 35-6. Rare. Struck from slightly worn dies and with minor corrosion, otherwise, good very fine.
